The time is getting away from me. It’s already Thursday and I haven’t posted a thing about last weekend’s adventures in cookery. The weather has seriously had my mind on soup. Here’s the menu…

Creamy white bean soup with garlic & kale
Baked kielbasa and chorizo
Ted’s green salad
Wheat rolls

Apple grunt with cardamon whipped cream for dessert

Last week we were away at dkeali_i celebrating Chinese New Year so there was no Saturday night. Ted made steamed bow to bring and it was very well received by those who were paying attention when it came out. They were devoured within 5 minutes of hitting the table. Crazy good.

This week the roulette wheel fell on poultry as the main course. Everything else was built off of the that.

Roast chicken
Macaroni & cheese (based of Joy of Cooking with customization by Ted)
Sauteed bok choy
Green peas
Rustic bread (homemade by Ted as well)

Cherry fruit swirl bars

The rationale behind this menu is one of those connect the dot affairs that would bewilder anyone but me. I know how we got there however it would take far to many words to explain. Suffice to say that despite the fact that we had never made any of these dishes before it was one tasty meal.

Chile Verde Pork (from the mind of ted_badger)
Arroz con Gandules (Rice with Pigeon Peas)
Sauteed Kale with garlic

We served warm flour tortillas, sour cream, salsa and quartered plum tomatoes with this. Many folks made taco like items though we did run out of tortillas and the eating didn’t stop.

Desert was Hartford Election Cake (go ahead, Google it). It’s a sweet yeast bread/cake with raisins. It was very tasty and disappeared quickly.
