Ted’s Birthday Bash 2013

We celebrated my husband’s 31st birthday last weekend with food, friends and frivolity.  I’d call it a simplified menu compared to past years however it was still a fair amount of cooking.

Anywho, here’s the menu.

Deviled Eggs
Roasted Brussels Spouts canape with black pepper Greek yogurt
Vegetable dumplings with soy-ginger dipping sauce
Guacamole & chips
Crudite and onion dip

Veggie Burgers
Potato chips
Pasta, pesto & peas
Black Bean, Corn and Tomato Salad

Brown Sugar Cookies
Spice Cup Cakes
Salted Caramel Shortbread bars (from Honeybee Baking Company via the Mass Local Food Co-op)
Eddy’s Lemonade Bars

There were ~25 guests for the party with it split 2/3 adults and 1/3 kids.

We consumed 8 of 12 hamburgers, 14 of 16 hotdogs and 4 of 6 veggie burgers.

All the deviled eggs were gone as were most of the dumpling. The canapes were perfect and enjoyed by many.

I can not speak highly enough of the veggie burgers. They are worth the time, effort and dirty dishes. We had a couple of leftovers the day or two later with guacamole, cheddar and bacon. So much better than mass produced veggie burgers.
