Saturday night – 01/04/2014

Our regular Saturday night gatherings took a short hiatus during the end of December while everyone enjoyed winter holiday get-togethers (and we restocked the pantry). Our first dinner of 2014 was wonderful and filled with friends.

Notes
The chicken and sausage bake is based on this recipe from Nigella Lawson. It’s rather easy and feeds a crowd. We actually had some fresh sage available in the garden (in January; in New England). Happy thought indeed.

The potatoes came out great. If I can remember how I made them I’ll post a recipe.

Ted oversaw the kale and it was very good. He made a confit of onions and lemon, I think. Then sauteed the kale in oil & garlic and added in the confit mixture. It was a little bitter; a great match to the rest of the menu.
