Another week without a vegetarian led to something a little different.

Lasagna Bolognese, Simplified
Steamed Green Beans and Peppers
Homemade bread

Dark Chocolate Cupcakes with Orange Butter frosting

8 gathered for dinner this week (7 adults; 1 kid).

Cook’s Illustrated has a habit of over-complicating their recipes. The results, while excellent, often come with extra effort that in the mind of this devotee are not always worth it. After making their “simplified” lasagna bolognese I can only wonder at what the non-simplified version is like. This lasagna is a combo of a flavorful meat sauce and a simple white sauce with noodles and Parmesan cheese. The result was very nice even if it didn’t stay together in picture perfect form.

The green beans I’ve made before; search the blog for a recipe if you’d like a simple side dish.

Ted made a very large round of bread from water, flour, yeast and salt. Sometimes good things come from simplicity.
